What is embracing diversity? When one embraces diversity, he accepts other people who are different from him in terms of looks, races, religions and even gender. Everyone is different and everyone must understand that. When one knows how to acknowledge the differences of each and everyone of us out there,they would then learn how to respect them. Knowing how to respect these differences is another different story. It is one more step to peace and harmony. For example, a chinese man would be able to understand that his friend, a malay, practices a different religion as he himself. However, he might not be able to respect what his friend does and may have said or done something to hurt his friend's feelings. Being respectful is thus very important and just understanding alone is not enough to embrace diversity.Understanding that the world consists of many more other types of human beings except your kind is a very first step to take.How to be respectful towards the difference then? Firstly, we must not be biased. We must not hate a person because of his race. We must not make rude remarks on another religion and we must never discriminate the other gender. We must learn to love and care for one another so that we would stay united and work well together to make the world a better place to live in. With happiness and peace around the world, we would have then build a nation and also embraced diversity.
With that, riots and wars would be prevented. There would be no discriminations and fights going on when people understands and accept one another. The importance of embracing diversity thus is important in maintaining peace and harmony around the world and making it a safe and peaceful place to live in with people bonded and united together.
